Introduction

Round 1RomulanGarry DillonFW (+40)
I was paired against Garry first up and he was the only player to not use the tri-treaty affiliation so I was worried about mission stealing and didn't mess with the spaceline. It was a pretty uneventful game, the first mission I went for was our shared one and after clearing all but one dilemma I was left a few cunning short so I used Loss of Orbital Stability twice (Palor-toffed) to keep Garry away while I got the extra personnel. Then we took turns completing mission until I won.

Round 2Lawrie KeleherFW (+100)
Second I was playing Lawrie, again with one shared mission. I seeded my Federation outpost at our shared mission and the other near the far end of the spaceline, Lawrie's outpost was next to the shared mission so early in the game I played a Q-net trapping us both with four missions between the net and spaceline end, then I went off to attempt a space mission. After I failed the attempt Lawrie played The Devil on my treaty, luckily only one of my personnel were placed under house arrest as I had mostly Non-Aligned out. I got my treaty back with Open Diplomatic Relations and played it next turn but Lawrie Palor-toffed The Devil and nullified it again. When I tried to play my own Palor-toff Lawrie used Counteramanda and removed the treaty and a couple personnel from play. I thought I was well and truly defeated at this point because I didn't have the skills on my Federation/Non-Aligned to complete enough missions for 100 points or get through the Q-net to access better missions. However losing the treaty became a blessing by the end of the match because it allowed me to steal missions (which contributed 65 of my points). I got out a Static Warp Bubble and fortunately Lawrie was unaware of how to nullify it with Spacedoor and soon ended up drawing one card then either playing or discarding it on the next turn. Lawrie attempted the mission his outpost was at and got his ship damaged, I then moved over to destroy his ship but forgot a leader and gave away my play. So Lawrie waited for the ship to be repaired and tried the mission again, again getting damaged, this time I took a leader and destroyed his ship with all of his personnel in play aboard. I got my Red Alert out just as Lawrie's hand got really small due to Static Warp Bubble, so for the next few turns I drew and played my personnel to their respective outposts, I also used Reflection Therapy to get Exobiology on a Federation person (my only one was on a Romulan) to steal Lawrie's mission that he had cleared but also cost him his ship and all his personnel. I cleared all but one dilemma under the mission (also Lawrie's) my Romulan outpost was at and Toreth was sent down near my Federation outpost so I picked her up (with my Non-Aligned) to attempt my first mission again but she found a second love interest that took her back near the Romulan outpost. I cleared a second mission with my Non-Aligned and Federation moving me to 65 points and one dilemma remaining under the 35 point mission my Romulans were chilling out at. I finally drew Where No One Has Gone Before so my Non-Aligned could take an alternate route to the Romulans and help them complete the mission and take me to 100 points.

Round 3Ben DillonFL (-65)
The third round was between the last two undefeated players Ben and I. This was the decider for the tournament which we both knew would happen before the tournament had started. We didn't share any missions but Ben had two rare mission Pegasus Search (50 points) and Avert Disaster (40 points). I went first and played Red Alert immediately, Ben naturally flipped Spacedoor and then I played 5 personnel on my turn but Ben dropped 7 personnel (5 diplomacy among them, making my Q-net in hand pointless). I attempted my mission next turn and cleared all of the dilemma's I was just short Engineer to complete it. Ben attempted his Establish Relations and blitzed through it to get another personnel out. I got out my Engineering PADD to complete my mission and moved on to the next where I lost a couple personnel and the Federation staffing my ship but had the mission cleared. On the next turn Ben played Scan on Pegasus Search then played a person and went over and smashed through the 6 dilemmas to get 50 more points. I couldn't get a person out to get either of my ships moving but drew one to do just that. Ben played Full Planet Scan this time and moved over to smash through Avert Disaster, fortunately I got his only Geology with Male's Love Interest (at least I thought) but he used Suna and Reflection Therapy to complete the mission and end the game 15 minutes after it started.

Round 4FederationMike GarveyFL (-35)
Against Mike I shared a mission again which I cleared of dilemma's on the third turn but couldn't complete it, in a moment of poor judgement I played a Q-net between Mike's outpost and the cleared mission so that he couldn't steal it from me but I left him with 4 missions that he could attempt on his side of the Q-net. I cleared my next mission again unable to complete it because I was short Engineer (not Science though, come on Engineering PADD). Mike went over and completed a mission for 25 points while I finished a planet mission (35 points) and trying to draw more Engineer or my PADD. I kept Mike occupied at the end of the spaceline with Loss of Orbital Stability for two turns but still couldn't get out the Engineer so I went for another mission (although I only need one Engineer or my PADD to complete two mission for 70 points and win the game). Attempting the second planet was my biggest mistake because Firestorm killed the two Engineer (and 2 diplomacy so I could get through the Q-net) I did have out and at the end of the turn I drew my third. Mike finished two more missions while to get to 75 points while I kept drawing for my PADD, I used Where No One Has Gone Before to destroy Mike's ship with most of his personnel on it. So we both drew and played, I was waiting for Engineer Mike was trying to build an away team to complete his last accessible mission. My dilemma's killed all but a couple of his personnel when he did attempt (one was left, Impassable Door) and I still hadn't drawn the Engineering Padd with only 4 cards left in the deck. Three turns later I drew the Engineering Padd (YAY!) but Mike played Suna on his turn and was able to get the Leadership he required, with Wesley (who I had already killed twice) providing the Computer Skill for Impassable Door and the other skills required for the mission Mike won.

Round 5Michael DillonFW (+55)
In the final game I changed my deck to just destroy the opponents... well everything because I couldn't win the tournament after Ben won his fourth game. It turned out pretty effective against Michael who ended up having the best dilemma's I saw all day. Michael managed to get two low point missions done before I finshed off his outpost and then a damage dilemma, Abandon Ship and a second damage dilemma removed the rest of his personnel from play saving me the trouble. Then I just attempted my missions, with 5 ships spread around it was pretty fast jumping between them and I won a few turns later.
