[Academy] Equinox [v1] |
Introduction |
Having just gone 2-1 with my Equinox deck in a regular tournament, I was quietly confident for the Academy tournament. Sadly, I didn't make many notes about this tournament, and can't remember many details. |

Round 1 | | Michael Moskop | FL (-25)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
Michael was playing TOS and micro-attempting. His dilemma pile seemed to be based around skill walls like Breaking the Ice and We'll Never Know. This would have worked well, except for the fact that I had Noah Lessing in play and two skill cheater Neucleogenic cards in hand. It turns out that I totally misread Noah Lessing and used him twice at my first mission attempt (sorry again Michael), before going on to complete it. I only noticed at my second mission attempt and, not being able to go back and correct the error, offered to not use him during that attempt. It turns out that it didn't matter though, as I had all three physics to overcome We'll Never Know. That was as far as I got though, as I couldn't stop his micro-attempts for long. He took the victory.

It was really cool to meet James and his borther Will at the convention. I had hoped to meet them last year at the Star Trek Las Vegas convention but you all know how hard it is to find time at a big convention. James was playing Equinox and having some card draw problems but eventually got going. That extra time for me was what I needed to get in the lead. I was just wishing he would have played the Nucleogenic cards instead of burning them because I was just waiting with a hand full of Diversionary Tactics. I was able to pull it out though even with all of Equinox's smily tricks. |

Round 2 | | Joel Skon | FW (+70)View opponent's ReportView original Report |
GenCon Team-mate Joel was playing Dominion Commodities, and was also micro-attempting. My deck worked like a charm, giving me the exact personnel I needed at the right time, and giving me the dilemmas combos that worked perfectly to stop Joel's personnel. In the time that Joel had completed one mission, I had blown through all three to take the win.
FW: 100-30 |
Wow. Equinox is SOOOOO good in Academy, I will probably play them next time. James played them perfectly. I got killed. |

Round 3 | | Edward Pigman | FW (+30) |
Edward was playing Starfleet with Nathan Samuels to play multi-species personnel cheaper. Even though he had the personnel advantage, I was able to one-stop him for three consecutive turns with Legacy. That gave me the time to work towards my first mission. I eventually completed it, and then took my second mission the same turn when In-Development only stopped two personnel. The following turn, once I had run out of copies of Legacy, Edward caught back up spectacularly. He removed Karyn Archer from the game to pump his personnel's attributes +2, and then completed his first mission. He then went on to complete his second mission after he attempted with eight personnel and I could only stop four of them. On the next turn, Edward played Conflict of Interests to try and one-stop my attempt, but I used Noah Lessing and two copies of Interspatial Fissures to cheat my way past it and complete the mission.
