StarfleetDamaged Starfleet [v1]
Introduction
The first day of GenCon! I was full of hope and ambition. This was my first time playing in the WCT Champions League Tournament. It will not be my last...

I was playing my Damaged Starfleet deck. Partly because I wanted to do well, and partly because I only brought two decks with me to GenCon, and I wanted to save the other one for day one (heat one) of the World Championships the next day.

Round 1VoyagerAlexander SchmitzFL (0)
Alex was playing Voyager Long Journey Home. I should have noticed this straight away, looking at his mission selection, but I didn't. Consequently, I used a couple of Grav-Plating Traps to blow up some of Alex's early events. That didn't help me though, as he had too many of the blighters. At his first mission attempt, I played Show Trial followed by Gomtuu Shock Wave. I thought I easily had him, but Chakotay unstopped one and then Janeway's 10 Integrity helped him past Gomtuu. Boo. Hiss.

I manage to stop Alex's team at his second mission, before finally drawing into a Damaged Archer on my turn. The first dilemma I face, Secret Identity, takes out Archer and I'm in big trouble for the rest of the game. An Issue of Trust is enough to stop my team cold. Alex then completes his second mission, while easily stopping me at my first.

Alex plays The Long Journey Home and two copies of Field Studies to get three dilemmas under his third mission. He attempts using Running a Tight Ship and Vic Fontaine, so I don't get much to work with. This makes a big difference because I can't play either of the dilemmas I drew. At this point, I had two copies of Lustful Distraction in hand, but for some reason never used either copy on Long Journey Home. I do manage to complete Investigate Derelict, but get one-stopped by We'll Never Know at my planet mission.

I have a really bad draw at Alex's third mission and don't come close to stopping him, but manage to just about do it at his fourth mission. On my next turn, I again forget to play Lustful Distraction, and again get one stopped on my planet.

On what would turn out to be the final turn, I though I had Alex in my sights. I played Moral Choice followed by Tsiolkovsky Infection expecting to massacre his team. Unfortunately, The Doctor got past Moral Choice and had practically all the skills for the 8-coster. Game Over
