Theme winner from this year's Cool Tournament at GenCon: Where Everybody Knows Your Name.

The idea behind the deck was that I knew there was some overlap between actors on Paramount shows and that there were many references to Cheers interwoven into Star Trek in various places. I decided to start looking into how much crossover there was and then found out just how deep the rabbit hole went. Thankfully IMDB has a cross reference tool where I could confirm appearances between the shows. After weeding out crew and writers, I was left with multiple pages of actors, most of whom made their way onto CCG cards.

Once I got all that data, I had to find people to fill out the "main cast" of the show since only three mentioned in the opening credits were on Star Trek series (Alley, Grammer, and Neuwirth). I picked the rest based on the criteria listed below.

Staring:

Sam Malone: Sam Lavelle (also has a slight likeness to go with a similar name)
Diane Chambers: Aluura (waitress, too good to be working where she is)
Rebecca Howe: Saavik - Kirstie Alley
Norm Peterson: Morn (naturally, as the character was named in reference to him)
Cliff Clavin: Tahglio (a man in “government” uniform who is also noted for his “poor performance”)
Carla Tortelli: Brigadier Kerla (name sounded like Carla, couldn’t resist)
Ernie “Coach” Pantusso: Boothby (old man that everyone went to for advice)
Woody Boyd: Frool (lowest cunning waiter or bartender aside from Starfleet personnel)
Frasier Crane: Morgan Bateson - Kelsey Grammer
Lillith Sternin Crane: Alien Groupie - Bebe Neuwirth

All the guest stars appeared on both Cheers and a Star Trek series. The choice between multiple cards usually came down to either which was easiest to get into play without needing additional missions/facilities, which would work with other affiliations by treaty, or just which was the "cooler" card to include.

Guest Staring (in alphabetical order by actor/actress):
Vaughn Armstrong - Dr. Telek R’Mor (also appeared as Danar, Decaren, Drenol, Korris, Lansor/Two of Nine, Maxwell Forrest, and Seskal)
Erick Avari - B’ijik (also appeared as Yarka)
Georgia Brown - Helena Rozhenko of Sergey and Helena
Hamilton (Bob) Camp - Leck
Ron Canada - Ch’Pok
Amanda Carlin - Kobb
Christopher Carrol - Benil
Tory Christopher - Paxton Reese
Josh Clark - Joseph Carey
Daniel Davis - Professor Moriarty
Paddi Edwards - Anya
Charles Esten - Divok
John Fleck - Koval (also appeared as Dakol, Ornithar, and Taibak)
Bruce French - Sam’po (also appeared as one of the aliens pictured on The Caretaker’s “Guests”)
David Froman - K’nera
Jennifer Gatti - Ba’el
Anne Haney - Rishon Uxbridge (also appeared as Els Renora)
Donald Hotton - Prylar Mond (credited as “Monk #1”)
Deirdre Imershein - Jamaharon (also appeared as Lt. Watley)
Hal Landon, Jr. - Praetor Neral
Christopher Lloyd - Kruge
Catherine MacNeal - Mariah Henley
Jeff McCarthy - Dr. Fitzgerald (also appeared as Roga Danar)
Christopher McDonald - Richard Castillo
Derek McGrath - Chell
Erik Menyuk - The Traveller
Phil Morris - Thopok (also appeared as Remata’Klan)
Kate Mulgrew - Kathryn Janeway
Jack Murdock - The old ’49er in the alley pictured on Devidian Foragers (credited as “Beggar”)
Jim Norton - Albert Einstein
Robert O’Reilly - Kavok (also appeared as Gowron)
Leland Orser - Lovok (also appeared as Dejaren and Lovok Founder)
Maurice Roeves - Galathon (credited as “Romulan Captain”)
Brent Spiner - Data (also appeared as Dr. Soong and Lore)
Cameron Thor - Narik
Beth Toussaint - Ishara Yar
Tasia Valenza - T’Shanik
Guy Vardaman - Darian Wallace (see “Behind the Scenes” article at Memory Alpha regarding work with Decipher, and he is listed in "Other Projects" as having been an extra on Cheers though it is not listed in his IMDB record)
Peter Vogt - Tallus (credited as “Romulan Commander”)
Time Winters - Daro
Henry Woronicz - J’Ddan

Also there were some people that were on 2E cards, backwards compatible or otherwise, that are honorable mention in the research, but were not used to keep the deck limited to 1E cards only (if compatible):
Vaughn Armstrong - Ibboko, Korath, and Maximillian Forrest
Ron Canada - Martin Benbeck
John Fleck - Silik
Mike Hagerty - Larg
Brent Spiner - Arik Soong
Robert Symonds - Porta

There were several others that crossed between Cheers and Star Trek (and several of those listed had other Trek roles as well), but this just covers those currently on cards. Notably, Paul Wilson, who played Paul Krapence on Cheers, was also on Star Trek: Voyager in the episode "The Void" as Loquar.
